Assignments Tab - Classes Page

The Assignments tab on the Classes page is your command and control center. It helps you track student progress, spot who may be falling behind, and keep grading and feedback moving with a focused list of submissions ready for review.

You can view assignments for a single class or select All Classes to see everything in one place.

Select a Class or View All

At the top of the Classes page:

  • Click a class to view assignments for that specific class.
  • Or, click All Classes (top right) to see every assignment across all your classes in one view.

Below the class tiles, the selected view will display, showing your class name or All Classes along with the assignment lists.

Layout Overview

The Assignments tab is divided into two panels:

  • Needs My Review shows student submissions waiting for your attention.
  • Class Assignments Overview shows every assignment and how students are progressing.

Each panel helps you track progress and respond to student work efficiently.

Needs My Review

This list shows student submissions that need your attention. The total count appears at the top right. Each entry shows:

  • Assignment name
  • Student name
  • Submission date
  • Auto-scored grade, when applicable

These are submissions that have been turned in but not yet reviewed or returned.

You can:

  • Sortby Submission Date, Student Name, or Assignment Name.
    • Use the Sort bydropdown to choose your sorting option.

    • Use the Sort Orderbutton to switch between ascending and descending.

  • Searchby keyword using the search bar at the top.
    • Results update automatically as you type.
    • To clear a search, click the X inside the search bar or delete the text.

Click any submission to open the Submission Review screen, where you can adjust grades, leave comments, and return work to the student.

When you open a submission from Needs My Review, the navigation in the Submission Review screen reflects this list, not a single assignment:

  • The dropdown includes the submissions currently visible in your Needs My Review list.
  • Your selected sort order is preserved.
  • This makes it easy to review submissions by assignment, student, or date.
Tip: After you return work, it automatically disappears from the Needs My Review list.

Class Assignments Overview

This list shows every assignment for the selected class, or for all classes if you are using the combined view. The total number of assignments displayed appears at the top right.

Each assignment row displays:

  • Assignment name
  • Total assigned students
  • Progress counts for:
    • Not Started
    • In Progress
    • Submitted
    • Returned

Clicking an assignment expands its details, including Open Date, Close Date, Due Date, and the student lists under each progress status.

Note: The Date Filter at the top of the screen controls what appears here. Only assignments and submissions within the selected date range are displayed.

You can:

  • Sortby Date Assigned, Total Assigned, Not Started, In Progress, Submitted, Returned, Open Date, Close Date, or Due Date.
    • Click the Sort bydropdown to choose your sorting preference.

    • Click the Sort Orderbutton to toggle ascending or descending.

  • Searchby keyword using the search bar at the top.
    • Results filter automatically as you type.
    • To clear the search, click the X inside the search bar or delete the text.

You can also click any submission in this panel to open it in the Submission Review screen.

When you do, the navigation mirrors the list you were viewing, so the visible submissions and their sort order match exactly.

For example, if you sort by Submitted, open the first submission, and start reviewing, you can use the next button in the Submission Review screen to move through the list. After returning work, the display updates automatically to reflect the new Returned status.

This overview helps you see how your classes are progressing and who may need extra support or reminders.
