How to Assign an Activity Using Schoology

How to Assign an Activity Using Schoology

With the Schoology delivery method, Classwork.com posts your assignment to Schoology as an External Tool material. Grades push back to Schoology automatically as students complete their work.

Before you start: your school administrator must first set up Classwork.com as an External Tool in Schoology. This is done once for your whole organization, and you cannot add Classwork.com materials to a course until it is complete. Send your administrator this guide: Schoology: How Do I Set Up Classwork.com as an External Tool?

Note (July 2025): The app’s URL changed from app.teachermade.com to app.classwork.com. If your courses still use app.teachermade.com links, ask your admin to also install the tool as Classwork.com so Schoology recognizes both URLs.

Step 1: Choose Schoology

On Step 1 of 3 of the Create Assignment page, select Schoology, then click Next.

Step 2: Select Your Classes

On Step 2 of 3, choose which classes receive the assignment. This step works the same for every delivery method. See How to Assign an Activity Using Classwork.com for the details.

Step 3: Set Your Assignment Options

On Step 3 of 3, choose your General Settings (the options available for every assignment type, such as the Submit button, checking answers, score display, and student tools).

Important: check Enable Grading so that scores are recorded in Schoology.

Click Save. Classwork.com creates the Schoology assignment and opens the Assignment Detail screen, where you view student submissions as they come in.

Add the Assignment to Your Schoology Course

After you save, add the Classwork.com material to your Schoology course as an External Tool material. See Schoology: How Do I Add Classwork.com to My Schoology Course? for the steps.
