Using the Internalization Tab

The Internalization tab is where you log the prep you do before you teach – internalizing the curriculum, analyzing exemplars, and planning your scaffolds. You do this on your own or with an instructional coach during your HB 1605 protected prep time.

It’s worth the few minutes: internalization logs document your prep for the LIFT grant, and the supports you pre-select here flow straight into the Planned column of your daily lesson logs.

Open an Internalization Log

On the Internalization tab, open the log for the unit of work you’re preparing. You’ll internalize by Module or Topic for Math, and by Unit for RLA.

Complete the Log

Each internalization log is organized into a few categories.

• Category 1: Collaboration & Pacing Setup – mark whether you completed the work independently or with an instructional coach, and confirm your instructional window aligns with the district’s recommended pacing guide.
  
  
• Category 2: Exemplar Analysis & Task Mapping – confirm your exemplar prep steps for the unit: Exemplar Execution, Standard-to-Task Mapping, and Misconception & Friction Mapping.
  
  
• Category 3: LIFT Grant Accommodations & Scaffold Mapping – pre-select the Research-Based Instructional Strategies (RBIS) you’ll use to support special populations, across SPED Supports and Emergent Bilingual (EB) Supports.
  
  
• Coaching Support – say whether you need support from a coach or administrator.
  
  
• Publisher Material Adaptation Note – optionally, note any lessons in the unit where your campus data means you’ll supplement or heavily adapt the publisher’s core tasks.

When you’re finished, click Submit Internalization Log.

Reading and Foundation Skills (Grades K–3)

For RLA in Grades K–3, you’ll complete two internalization logs per unit – one for Reading and one for Foundation Skills.
