Reviewing Student Work

Classwork.com lets you see your students working at any time. As soon as they begin an assignment, you can monitor their progress live, provide real-time feedback, and review their submissions once complete. The tools at your disposal make grading streamlined, efficient, and effective.

The Assignment Detail Screen

To begin reviewing work, go to your Activities page and click the name of the activity. Then click on the name of the assignment linked to that activity. This will bring you to the Activity Detail screen.

Click the assignment again to open the Assignment Detail Screen, where you’ll see all students currently working or who have submitted their work.

From this view, you can see:

  • The student's name
  • Whether they're currently online
  • Their assignment status (In Progress, Submitted, or Returned)
  • The score
  • The submission date

Review Student Work

Click on a student’s name to review their submission in full.

Use the student navigation bar on the left to move between submissions:

  • Click the left or right arrows to toggle between students
  • Use the dropdown menu to jump directly to a specific student

A green circle next to a student’s name means they are currently online and working in the assignment.

Once inside a student’s submission:

  • You’ll see all their work, including auto-graded questions marked correct or incorrect.
  • Use the slide navigation tool to browse through the slides of their assignment.

If your activity included Open Answer questions, click the student’s response and then select Set Score to manually grade.

Give Feedback

You can add your own annotations while reviewing student work. Students will see this feedback the next time they open the assignment — and if they’re still working, they’ll see it immediately.

Available teacher tools for feedback include:

  • Text
  • Drawing
  • Stickers (click the star icon to access fun feedback graphics)

Return Their Work

In the left-hand menu beside a student's submission, you’ll see options to manage grading and return the assignment.

You can:

  • View time on task and current status
  • Submission
  • Choose how to finalize the score:
  • Accept the auto-graded score
  • Add bonus points (useful for ungraded questions)
  • Override with a custom score

Once finished, click Return Submission to send the graded work back to the student.

Students will access their returned work by reopening the assignment just as they did initially.

You've Done It!

That wraps up the final Getting Started guide! In just a few short steps, you’ve learned how to:

  • Create an activity
  • Add interactions to your slides, if needed
  • Assign work to students
  • Monitor, review, and return student submissions
