Power of the Classwork Snipping Tool |
Use the Snipping Tool
The Snipping Tool is one of the most flexible tools in the Activity Editor. While it is often used to create drag and drop interactions, it can also help you edit, rearrange, and customize your original PDF.
The Snipping Tool is located in the Tool Box on the right side of the editor. Select the scissors icon to activate it.

When activated, your cursor becomes crosshairs. Click and drag over any area of your PDF to snip it.
How Snipping Works
The Snipping Tool does not permanently remove anything from your PDF. Instead, it:
- Creates an image of the selected area
- Places a color block behind it
If you delete the snipped image, the color block remains. You can resize it, change its color, or delete it entirely to return to the original background.
Ways to Use the Snipping Tool
- Hide or block parts of your worksheet
Snip the area you want to remove, then delete the image. The color block behind it will cover the original content. This is helpful for hiding answer keys or content you are not ready to assign.
- Move elements anywhere on the page
Snip a table, image, question, or section of text. Then drag the resulting image to a new location on the slide.
- Copy content between Activities
Open the Activity that contains the content you want to copy.
- Activate the Snipping Tool.
- Drag over the area you want.
- Use Ctrl+C to copy.
- Open the destination Activity.
- Use Ctrl+V to paste.
Convert Background Text to Editable Text
You can also extract text directly from your uploaded PDF.
After activating the Snipping Tool, choose the Text option. Then drag over the text you want to capture.

The tool converts the selected text into a Teacher Text box. You can:
- Edit the wording
- Resize or reformat the text
- Make it draggable for use with Drop Zones
This also improves accessibility because the new text becomes readable by screen readers.
Text conversion may be sensitive to unusual fonts, large formatting differences, or complex layouts. For best results, snip smaller sections and review the converted text before assigning.
Next Steps
The Snipping Tool gives you full control over your uploaded PDFs. You can block content, rearrange layout, copy between Activities, and convert background text into editable elements.
Use it whenever you need to customize a worksheet without recreating it from scratch.
